United States Conference of Mayors Letter to USDA
In Decemeber of 2009, the United States Conference of Mayors, a non-partisan group, sent a letter to the USDA's Natural Resources and Environment Undersecretary, Harris Sherman, advocating for expanded watershed restoration acorss the country. The mayors noted that over 60,000,000 Americans obtain their drinking water from the national forests and that municipal water treatment facilities were over stressed due to the undermaintained and overly large road system on those lands.
