Legacy Roads and Trails called out in Senate Budget.

 

Last week, the Senate released a budget resolution for the first time in four years.  And for the first time, Legacy Roads and Trails is mentioned.  It is tucked away on page 107 but is one of the few small programs included.  Under the header “Protecting the environment: endangered species and open space”, the Senate spotlights the following:

Tortoises, panthers and crocodiles… wood storks, snail kites, and Roseate spoon-bills… cypress strands and sawgrass wetlands. These plants and animals survive, and even thrive, in Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park. But their future is not entirely certain, especially within Big Cypress, where another large “animal” thrives: the off-road vehicle. 

Wolverines in the News - Protections Needed, But Will They Arrive?

Several news stories came out this week after the Montana Dept. of Fish, Wildlife and Parks decided not to challenge a temporary restraining order (TRO) that stopped the trapping of wolverines.
