Oregon

Even before opening our Eugene, Oregon Wildlands CPR office in January 2010, we were involved in protecting the wild places of Oregon from off-road vehicle abuse. Wildlands CPR engaged with other Oregon groups to protect the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, and our work there has continued to this day.

Wildlands CPR also joined with Oregon groups to challenge a road building project through an Inventoried Roadless Area on the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Unfortunately, we lost our litigation, and the road was approved and has since been built, but our work has not finished. We are engaged in the route designation process for the Oregon Dunes that will provide motorized users with better access from the open dunes to specific destination areas, while limiting motorized impacts on sensitive ecological areas.  We are also working with the group Save the Riders Dunes to promote restoration of the Dunes through european beach grass removal in key ecological and recreation areas.

We are also monitoring the off road vehicle designation and road restoration efforts on the Fremont- Winema National forests in south-eastern Oregon and are actively engaged in Southern Oregon, working on the Umpqua and Rogue River-Siskiyou National forests travel management planning processes.
