Four Wheeler Rips Up Ski Trails

The Ravalli Republic ran a story about how a four wheeler drove around gates closing the Forest Service roads to motor vehicles in the Como Lake area on the Bitterroot National Forest.

The story is notable because a dedicated group of skiers got permission to groom roughly 30 miles for cross-country and skate skiing, and after the trails were vandalized the local paper ran a really good article that can be found at this link.

Of course the comments are what caught my eye since they usually provide a good laugh, and this time was no exception when the conspiracy theories started flying; pretty typical in the Bitterroot Valley. Normally these are best ignored, and probably so in this case as well. However one is so outrageous that I couldn’t pass it up:

"Maybe this was done by someone who wants to ban ATV's from the forest. Maybe MOST of the damage we hear about is. "

Yep, those of us who want to enjoy some peace and quiet in the woods are really out there breaking the law just to give motorized users a bad name; especially since they do such a poor job on their own.

I laughed my ass off and thought others may enjoy a good chuckle.
