Complete list of FY 09 Legacy Roads projects by region
The file attached below (and in the righthand sidebar), is the final list of projects approved for FY '09 Legacy Roads funding.
All of the regions are included in this one file - on the bottom of the spreadsheet there are tabs for each individual region. The breakdown of the $50 million FY '09 Legacy Roads funding was as follows:
R1 $5.9 million
R2 $4.5
R3 $6.3
R4 $4.9
R5 $8.5
R6 $9.5
R8 $6.1
R9 $2.2
R10 $ .9
A quick tally of the numbers from these spreadsheets shows that the FS estimates that the $50 million allocated for Legacy Roads in FY '09 will result in the following accomplishments:
- 1326 miles of system and non-system roads reclaimed
- 1386 miles of trail maintained or improved
- 413 stream crossings reconstructed for fish
- 1071 miles of road improved and 1758 miles of road maintained
- 100 bridges reconstructed
- 566 miles of stream habtitat enhanced (at a minimum)
- 65,177 acres of watershed improved (at a minimum)
Many forests and projects did not include data on stream habitat and acres of watershed improved, therefore those final two bullets are probably under-representing the actual totals significantly. (For example, Region 8 (the southeast) accounts for about 90% of the watershed acres improved, so it is likley that this is a vast underestimate since most forests in other regions didn't report this data.)
The allocations of funds this year include much more road reclamation than during the first year of the project - we are very pleased to see this trend.
